He helped give Stax its signature sound, playing the same sax he’s had since 1949
As part of its 15th anniversary celebration, the Stax Museum honored Stax legend Floyd Newman, who donated his 100-year-old saxophone that he played his entire career with a who’s who of music icons such as Otis Redding, Booker T. & the MGs, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Stephen Stills, Etta James, Sam Cooke, and a host of other artists spanning decades.
