Chuck D will be presented with the Power of Music Honors on May 2, 2025, at the Stax Museum, in advance of Public adopted music as a tool for activism, resilience, and economic development. From the civil rights anthems of Stax Records’ recording artists to the socially conscious messages of Memphis hip-hop, the city’s musical legacy inspires change. By hosting this event, the Soulsville Foundation continues strengthening Memphis’ reputation as a hub where music is not just created—it changes lives.

In addition to honoring (legendary?) groundbreaking artists, the Power of Music Honors serves as a dynamic fundraising initiative for the Soulsville Foundation, supporting programs such as the Stax Music Academy and Music Employs as it celebrates its 25th year. These initiatives provide young musicians with hands-on industry training, mentorship, and career development, ensuring the next generation has the tools to succeed in music and beyond. Students will take on key production roles at the event, gaining real-world experience in event management, media, and live performance.
Strategically scheduled ahead of Memphis’ Riverbeat Festival, the Power of Music Honors will attract national attention, foster unique artist collaborations, and create new sponsorships, ticket sales, and donor engagement. As it grows, the event will become a flagship annual celebration, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and expanded impact for the Soulsville Foundation.
